Creative Journaling Resources

I started journaling as an adult in 2011, during one of my peaks (or should I say pits?) of depression. I had a little journal with beautiful hand-pressed pages that I felt like NEEDED to be written in. So why not start just writing?

It’s now been 9 years of journaling, and boy, have I changed a lot! Both in who I am and how I journal. Today’s video delves deeper into my journal evolution over the last 4 years as encompassed in one journal I’ve finally finished! And I thought it might be useful to dive into some creative journaling resources I recommend here on the blog in case, you’re wanting to get my artistic and inspired with your journaling.

First, if you’re interested in getting into daily journaling or you’re like me and struggle sometimes to know WHAT to journal about–my life isn’t *that* interesting, guys!–then I highly recommend looking up some daily journal prompts to use as a reference.

I’ve collected some of my favorites I’ve been using here on my pinterest:

Next, I have to give a shout out to Cathy Hutchison and her work with Sketchnotes and visual journaling. Her Creative Mornings “Field Trip” I took back in August revolutionized the way I thought about journaling!

She’s on Instagram as @cathy.hutchison and blogs about all things journaling over at yourvisualjournal.com

And last but not least, some links for supplies if you want to start journaling too!

Fujifilm Instax Mini Link Smartphone Printer

This is my absolute MUST HAVE for journaling. It’s been a game changer for me because I’m far more likely to take photos with my phone when fun things are happening, and love the ability to print them out at my leisure later for journal decorating.

Get it here on Amazon.

Fujifilm Instax Mini 11 Instant Camera

If you’re looking to be more creative with your journal photography then an instant camera might be for you!

Get it here on Amazon.

Fujifilm Instax Mini Instant Film

Both the smartphone printer and the instant camera take the same instant film which makes restocking convenient! This is also your best deal with each photo being about $0.75.

The Antiquarian Sticker Book

This sticker book is so cool! I saw an Instagram ad for it earlier this year at HAD to have it. It’s perfect if you’re into collaging like me!

Get it here on Amazon.

The Botanist’s Sticker Anthology

And this sticker book is currently on my Christmas wishlist because I love me some flowers!
